another update:

~if you have a ds, bring it + games. if you also have a wavebird for gamecube bring it, but i have 4 controllers if we want to play any gamecube games, so you don't have to bring one unless you want (but i have dibs on my wavebird)
~it better not be raining/thundering... but if it is, we'll still party

i am in desperate need for a big update.
an update that chronicles a-kon and all the events afterwards that lead up to now.

this is not that update.

this update is about july 4th. like last year (for those of you who went), pool partay @ my place. if you're in the former "josue's apartment" group, you're auto-invited. otherwise, you can probably come as well. everyone who wants to go let me know and I'll probably give you the thumbs up. details shall be posted as soon as i have a clue of what's going down... but that'll come after I get a core list. so long story short, tell me if you want to come.

Comedy and A-Kon

This blog entry is in 2 parts: Comedy and A-Kon

1) Comedy
Houston's Funniest didn't go well, but at least I've learned things because of it... not what I expected to learn, but that's irrelevant. That's all that needs to be said about it. (Sidenote: I have a CD of my set from Houston's Funniest, but I'm afraid to listen to it, expecially since the thing I hate the most about my performance is my voice... with video it's tolerable, but audio alone... who knows. Once I find out if it's good or not, I might make it available for y'all.)

Tomorrow night I'll be doing standup in Arlington, but after that, I'll be taking at least a month off from standup; both watching (with the possible exception of Harland Williams next week) and performing. I've been spending a lot of time doing comedy lately but I need to take a break, re-evaluate everything, think lots of things over, and hopefully write a few new jokes. In about a month, I'll decide whether (in order of likelihood) I'm ready to start up again, I need more time to work on things, or if I should stop.

2) A-Kon
Tomorrow, I'll be leaving for A-Kon in Dallas... hopefully I'll have enough money. I have a hotel room w/ Robert (and possibly more), plus I'll be seeing my old friend "Gay Ian" (the term used with all due respect solely to seperate him from other Ian's I know... when I met him I also knew "Mohawk Ian" [who, sadly, no longer has a mohawk] and "Stoner-hippy" Ian) plus many BTX'ers. I put together a last-minute cosplay of Matsushiro Ken from Yakitate!! JaPan, which of course means I shaved... damnit. Anyway, I'll come back soon with stories and pictures, but if you are going to be at the con let me know so we can meet up!

I had a group interview @ Banana Republic on Wednesday, did well, and I have my 2nd interview (not group this time) today @ 2:15... wish me luck.

Don't forget Houston's funniest on Tuesday! I wrote up a set list, and hopefully I'll remember them all on stage (if I remember them all, I estimate that I'll have just about enough time)

I need to update more often... Houston's Funniest is in just over a week; y'all better go! I applied for jobs at 2 Barnes and Noble-s, a Texas store in the Galleria, Banana Republic in the Galleria, and Borders... if I don't get any of them, I probably can get a job at a Starbucks (I've got a hookup there... I don't like coffee, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world).

Ok y'all, I seriously need your help. On MAY 30TH, I'm going to be in the Houston's Funniest Person Competition 2006 @ Laff Stop. I'll be putting on my A-game and there'll be a lot of great commedians doing the same, so PLEASE check it out! A part of the scoring is audience response, so if y'all come and laugh @ my jokes, I might actually (very unlikely, but possibly) have a chance to go to the 2nd round, which would cause me to shit myself in glee. (If you do come, don't be a douche; stay for all the comics and laugh when you feel like it... just make sure to laugh for me. But don't ignore the other comics.) I think the cover is like $5, which is cheap for the great night of entertainment it's going to be! I really need as big of a crowd as I can get together, so let me know what you can do! (Show starts at... 8 I believe). SERIOUSLY DO IT, IT'S NOT LIKE YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO ON A TUESDAY NIGHT!

Thanks for the concerns/responses, guys; I really mean it. Your encouragement really helps.

Sam: I'll be doing standup tomorrow and hopefully for every Monday afterward until surgery or something... give me a call if you want to go, I'd enjoy it very much if you came.

Charlie: Thank you for the encouragement, hopefully I'll be able to make these changes very soon.

Michael: "Young" is a relative term... but you're right. It's not too late and I'll work towards changing.

Bekah: It's nice to know that I can be compared to a cheesy comedy with a feel good ending =P just kidding; you're right. And thanks for the invite; we're going to need to hang out a lot more now that my school's ending.

Renato: I wanted to get a job, but due to things like summer school's very inconvenient hours and surgery, I had to put my job-hunt on hiatus... but you're right, hopefully that will help me turn things around.

Graham: Read above, plus yes, we do indeed need to hang out mucho this summer.

Xiao Li: That's because they're NOT fun plans.

Wei: I haven't seen you since... November? I think that qualifies as online-only at this point lol yes indeed we need to hang out, let me know when you can sometime.

This is the same old story of growing up and getting lost

Below lies an angsty rant... but you should read it anyway. If you really don't want to, skip to the next paragraph.

I've been thinking alot lately... I've pretty much been throwing my life away it seems. I was at a great college, but I fucked that up. Even at the mediocre (at best) institution that I'm currently attending (HCC), I'm failing to excel. I'm smart enough, that isn't even a factor. I'm just a lazy bum. I'm 20, but I live at home, don't have a job, have damn near no friends off-line, and have had very little relationship experience with females, almost all of which has been fucked up beyond all belief. I'm an out-of-shape pathetic chauvinistic failure. The worst part is that I know that it's MY fault. I'm the fuckup. I'm convinced that it's too late to change things, but that just can't be true. I really need to learn how to turn my life around. I need to make friends. I need to take better care of myself. I need to try to get rid of this fucking lisp. I need to stop being such an annoying attention-whore. I need to stop looking for others for help like I deserve it or like they owe it to me. Even now, part of me is probably thinking that I should write this just to get pity. But I'd rather think that I'm writing this to get it out there, so that I might be motivated to actually make a change or two. I look at my friends and all the other people around me, and they're all moving on with life. They're all growing as people, constantly changing. I'm just stuck because I refuse to accept the fact that I can change. Hopefully, I'll start trying to live a better life soon.

I'm definitely going to have to get the surgery this summer... which bites horribly. My summer will consist of summer school for one semester's worth, then recovering from surgery. Fun fun. My friend that had the same surgery said that he didn't move off his couch (except for basic bodily functions and other exceptions like that) for a MONTH. I, luckily, am a very good healer... but I fear how big the cyst inside me will be. I'm hoping to be mobile alot sooner than that, but we'll see.

I need to START on my Art Appreciation online course. Yes, START. See above about me being a fuckup.

I decided to probably try for the website bonelessthursdays.com, do y'all like that idea? It seems most people find it real catchy and like it. Don't forget, my new SN is BonelessThursday (singular).
